Emergency Relief

Emergency relief provides support for people in receipt of a Centrelink benefit or low income who are in immediate need. See the suburb list below for details of the areas we cover.

How we can help

We provide emergency relief in the form of material goods including items from the Op Shops. Financial assistance* is also available in the form of food, vouchers and part payments of electricity, utility or phone bills, together with community information and/or referrals.

Making an appointment

Appointments are made on a first come first served basis. To make an appointment either go to the Lutheran Community Care office in your area (metropolitan and regional service areas are listed below) or telephone at 9:00am for a same day appointment. (Contact details listed below.)

What you need to bring with you

It is important to bring the appropriate documentation to the appointment. This includes:

A Centrelink Income Statement not more than two weeks old (LCC can, with your permission access an electronic copy)
ID with your current address
Some proof of how you have spent your money (receipts), bills (paid and unpaid)
Police report (where necessary)

In most situations Lutheran Community Care can provide assistance for households up to three (3) times in any 12 month period and once (1) in a Centrelink payment period.
